Surfing in El Salvador During the Rainy Season: FAQ

El Salvador is a prime destination for surfers year-round, and the rainy season offers unique opportunities for both advanced surfers and beginners. Here's what you need to know about surfing during the rainy months and how Puro Surf Academy ensures a safe and enjoyable experience.

Rainy Season Overview

When Is the Rainy Season?

  • Duration: May to late October

  • Peak Months: August and September, with most rain occurring in the afternoons and evenings.

Surf Conditions During the Rainy Season

Is the Ocean Still Surfable? Absolutely! During the rainy season, we receive many swells, some big and some small. It usually only rains at night, and it makes the ocean super glassy the next morning.

Beginner Surf Camps in the Rainy Season Beginners are not significantly affected by the larger swells. At Puro Surf, we work to take clients to the spot appropriate to their level, ensuring everyone gets the best possible experience. We have identified beaches that cater to all levels throughout the year.

Planning Your Surf Camp

Can I Reschedule If It Rains? While rain typically doesn't interfere with our camps, you can modify your reservation as long as it adheres to our cancellation and reservation policies.

How Will the Rain Affect My Visit? Expect sunny days with occasional overcast skies and less heat. Nights may bring some rain, so packing a light jacket is advisable.
